Your Purpose Lies Where Your Passions Begin.

Are you currently in a place in life where you feel stagnated? Not moving forward, nor backwards, just stuck. Are you feeling almost purposeless? An average human being lives 25,915 days. That is approximately 71 years, 621,960 hours, 37,317,600 minutes, or approximately 2,239,056,000 seconds. In my opinion, that is a good amount of time to be on this earth. So I ask you, what are YOU going to do with your time? In the book, The Purpose Driven Life, author Rick Warren states, “Time is your most precious gift because you only have a set amount of it. You can make more money, but you can't make more time. When you give someone your time, you are giving them a portion of your life that you'll never get back. Your time is your life."

There was a point in my life when I was unsure of my purpose. I was 17 years old and as a youth, I was aware that I still had a lot of time left on this earth. I was anxious to leave for college in a few months, anxious for freedom, but also afraid of the unknown. One thing I knew though, was I did not want to waste my time. I was seeking/searching for my purpose.

Now I know not everyone believes in God, and I am aware everyone discovers their purpose in different ways. Personally, I discovered my purpose through my faith. I attended a Christian youth conference and after the evening sermon I asked the preacher how I could discover my purpose. He told me to analyze my strengths and weaknesses, pray, ask God and with time He will make it clear to me. If I ask, He shall give it to me. With time, God made it clear what He wanted me to do. There are still many things to be revealed to me on my journey, but I believe things will be made clear as I go.

For those of you who abstain from religious practices, I encourage you to analyze your passions. Usually, the passions of an individual is the beginning of their purpose. What is something you could do everyday, remain excited about and not receive a dime for? For some it's music, others writing, comedy, engineering or possibly medicine. I'll say it again, what are YOU PASSIONATE about? What is something that comes naturally to you and you enjoy doing? Everything you've been through in life has played a part in shaping your passions and making you who you are. Take your pain, fears, strengths and weaknesses and pursue your dreams. Success will not come over night, but with consistency and diligence it will come. It won't be easy, but it'll be worth it.

I like to end my blogs with a story about a celebrity. Kevin Hart rose to fame in 2011. He was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and was raised by his mom Nancy, a single mother. He dealt with a lot of pain from his father's drug addiction and jail times. Mr. Hart knew there was one thing he was passionate about, it was making people laugh. At first He used comedy as a way to battle his pain from his childhood. Many of his jokes came from personal experiences. As a boy, Kevin was very passionate about comedy. His favorite comedians growing up were Chris Tucker and J.B. Hart didn't taste success after his first comedy show. After many comedy shows, albums and guidance from a mentor Kevin Hart's rose to fame in 2011 with his Laugh at my Pain tour. He accumulated $15 Million dollars from that tour. Now Mr. Hart stars in many movies and continues to tour all over the US as a comedian.

All in all, your purpose lies where your passions begin. Stay focused, patient, humble, diligent and surround yourself with people that can help to get you where you want to be.

Much Love,
Titiana Ngongang
